
It is only the same if smithing is involved, if you play a character without smithing heavy armor will offer more protection. Thanks for the feedback I'll probably give belethor a visit! There's the perk to sort that but still, you would think light armour would offer less protection overall just as a mage using robes would be minimal. I wasn't aware light armour offered the same protection! What is the point in heavy armour then? You move slower and it weighs a ton. (It will still hit the armor cap though, so eventually it will give the same protection.) Light armor weighs less (and gets the weightless perk earlier), but takes much longer before you hit the armor cap.
